Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) has been ranked 76th place in the Financial Times’ (FT) 2020 global ranking of Masters in Management (MiM) programmes, moving up 16 notches from its previous 92nd position in the 2019 rankings. It holds the eighth spot, among Asian universities ranked. This is the fourth time LKCSB is ranked in the FT study, since 2017.
A variety of factors are measured to determine the rankings of MiM programmes in the FT survey. These include post MiM salary increases, career progress, employability, international mobility, career services and value for money, among several others. The rankings help potential students understand the relative quality of the various programmes offered by business schools around the world, by providing them a comparison and insights into factors in their selection process.
The SMU Master of Science in Management (MiM) is an 18-month programme specially designed for individuals who would like to pursue a postgraduate management degree with a Global-Asian focused curriculum. It provides a platform for individuals with no prior business experience to transit successfully to the world of business with a comprehensive curriculum that covers the latest trends in business management. Students also have the option of the blended MiM programme, which is delivered primarily online with a mixture of on-demand and live sessions, supplemented by four face-to-face, on-campus segments.
The programme performed well in various areas. Graduates commanded average annual salaries of approximately USD63,068, which was a 27% increment three years after graduation from the programme. 79% of alumni fulfilled their goals for doing a masters and 67% found employment within three months of completing the course. In terms of career progress which measured seniority and company size, the SMU MiM programme was ranked 32nd, rising 35 notches from the previous year. The programme also scored well in the number of Faculty with doctorates (98%), and the percentage of international students (96%).
