About SG Women in Tech

Singapore has one of the highest proportion of women in the tech workforce in Southeast Asia. Women currently make up 41% of the tech workforce in Singapore, surpassing the global average of 28%.[1] The Singapore government recognises the gender imbalance in the tech sector, and is committed to collaborate efforts with the industry to build towards a digital future that has a stronger and more diverse representation of women in tech.

Launched in 2019, the SG Women in Tech (SGWiT), an initiative by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in partnership with the tech industry and community, aims to attract, inspire and develop girls and women to pursue a career in the dynamic infocomm tech sector.

In 2020, 100 women across diverse backgrounds were recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the growing tech sector in the inaugural SG100WiT list. The second edition of the 2021 SG100WiT List will be revealed on 15 October 2021.

About SG Women in Tech Corporate Pledge initiative

On 8 March 2021, SGWiT and SGTech (the trade association for the tech industry in Singapore) launched a new initiative – The SGWiT Corporate Pledge – where companies pledge to create a conducive environment with strong support systems to attract, retain and develop more women tech professionals.

The initiative also aims to encourage companies to address the key motivators for young women to take up a tech career, and for women tech professionals to continue to grow and thrive in the tech industry.

Till date, 51 companies have come onboard to show their support, growing the collective strength and interest of companies in Singapore in bringing about positive change for women in tech. More details of the participating companies’ pledges in Annex.

Companies keen to participate in the SGWiT Corporate Pledge initiative may email [email protected] for more enquiries, or visit www.sgwomenintech.sg for more information.
