ST Engineering Makes Senior Position Hire

ST Engineering today announced that it has appointed Tan Lee Chew as President Commercial and also as a member of the Group Executive Committee, effective 1 September 2021. Reporting to Group President & CEO Vincent Chong, Lee Chew will oversee and drive growth for the Commercial cluster, which comprises three business areas: Commercial Aerospace, Urban Solutions and Satellite Communications, and accounts for close to 50% of Group revenue as of 30 June 2021.

With Lee Chew’s appointment, Lim Serh Ghee will relinquish his role as Chief Commercial Officer. He will remain as Group Chief Operating Officer (Operations Excellence), and also a member of the Group Executive Committee, until his planned retirement on 30 October 2021.  Serh Ghee joined the Group’s Aerospace business in 1984. He had held various senior management appointments over the years, and was President of the Aerospace sector from 2014 to 2020.  Serh Ghee has been instrumental in the continued global growth of the Aerospace sector, including strategically moving the sector into original equipment manufacturing of aircraft engine nacelle systems and composite floor panels, as well as expanded its passenger-to-freighter conversion capabilities.

Lee Chew joined from Amazon Web Services where she was the Managing Director, Worldwide Public Sector (ASEAN) responsible for leading new business growth through the adoption of AWS services as an enabler to deliver technology transformation at scale for organisations. Prior to that, she was with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise for more than 20 years, last serving as the Senior Vice President of global Hybrid IT Sales and Category Management based in Palo Alto, California, where she led the go-to-market planning and execution of product sales strategies for the company’s Data Center Infrastructure and Software Defined technology portfolio globally.

“We would like to thank Serh Ghee for his outstanding service and significant contributions during his 37 years with the Group and wish him every success in his future endeavours,” said Vincent.  “The appointment of Lee Chew will strengthen our management team to drive further global success. Lee Chew brings with her significant global experience having spent 30 years in multinational companies in the technology sector, holding senior positions including roles with regional and global responsibilities in sales and marketing, and business transformation.”

Lee Chew’s credentials complement the ST Engineering senior leadership team, which was recently enhanced with the following new appointments:

  • Cheryl Chan as Group Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer effective 1 September. Cheryl joined the Group on 1 July from Linde where she was Head of APAC Clean Hydrogen. In her 14 years with the company, she had held various global and APAC management positions in strategy, product, marketing, project integration and business development.
  • Low Ka Hoe as President, Satellite Communications effective 1 September. Ka Hoe is currently the Group Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer, a position he has held since joining the Group in 2016.
  • Lim Kok Ann as President, Land Systems effective 1 July. Kok Ann joined the Group in 2011, and was most recently Deputy Head of Land Systems.
