Residents in Tengah Town as well as Jurong East / West towns can look forward to direct access to PIE in both the eastbound (towards the city) and westbound (towards Tuas) directions by 2027, with the completion of a new road interchange at Pan Island Expressway (PIE) / Jurong Canal Drive (JCD) to connect PIE and the upcoming Tengah Town.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be calling a tender by end 2020 for the infrastructural works. These include:

a)    Construction of a new 0.5 km dual 4-lane flyover along PIE near the exit to JCD;

b)    Construction of a new at-grade road junction below the new flyover, which will connect PIE, JCD and Tengah Boulevard leading to the upcoming Tengah Town; and

c)    Widening of PIE between Hong Kah Flyover and Bukit Batok Flyover and associated junction improvement works in the Jurong area.

Please refer here for the location map and an overview of the infrastructure works.

To facilitate the construction of the new flyover and at-grade road junction, a 1.5 km stretch of PIE will be shifted northwards onto a part of Jurong Road. With this, traffic running along Jurong Road will be re-routed to ply PIE before joining Bukit Batok Road. Prior to commencement of the construction works, LTA will put in place measures to minimise inconveniences to road users and residents during construction.
