Singapore’s ongoing transformation into a Smart Nation has led the cybersecurity sector to be in constant need for more experts and talents. Doing its part to develop more local talents in this sector, Ensign InfoSecurity, one of the Asia Pacific’s largest pure-play cybersecurity firms, has donated S$120,000 to the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to establish the Ensign InfoSecurity–SUTD Mid Term Scholarship.

This scholarship is open to Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents starting from 2022 and each beneficiary will receive S$30,000 to defray the costs of their tuition fees and study-related expenses. Each year, one junior (Year 3) student specialising in the Security track from SUTD’s Information Systems Technology and Design degree programme, will benefit from this bond-free scholarship. The Security track equips students with state-of-the-art knowledge of computer security, network security and cybersecurity technologies.

This is Ensign InfoSecurity’s first partnership with an autonomous university and it is part of the company’s bigger strategy to engage the local youth community and support the next generation of cybersecurity leaders. This is also SUTD’s first cybersecurity-focused scholarship that aims to provide more opportunities for deserving students to pursue a high quality education in the cybersecurity field.

“As part of Ensign’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future cyber leaders, we believe this partnership with SUTD will provide aspiring local talents with the opportunity, knowledge and skills to pursue cybersecurity as a career, allowing them to capitalize on the job opportunities in Singapore’s growing cybersecurity sector and digital industry,” said Ms Tammie Tham, Chief Executive Officer of Ensign InfoSecurity.

SUTD’s Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer, Ms Giselia Giam, received the gift in the form of a cheque presented by Ms Tham at a signing and cheque presentation ceremony that took place today.

Ms Giam said: “SUTD is grateful to Ensign InfoSecurity for choosing us as its partner to develop Singapore’s cybersecurity talent pipeline. With their generosity, we believe that more deserving students will be able to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to help fill the gaps in the cybersecurity sector and advance Singapore’s digital drive and transformation efforts.”
