Anybody who faces difficulties with their digital devices will soon be able to get help at almost 50 new SG Digital community hubs island-wide. The hubs, one-stop help centres conveniently located in community centres and public libraries, will be open by end August 2020.1
Speaking at a visit to the SG Digital Office @ West Coast community hub, Minister for Communications and Information, Mr S Iswaran said, “The SG Digital community hubs are a welcome addition to complement our broad slate of national digitalisation initiatives. As part of the next step in this nationwide digitalisation movement, we are reaching out and going deeper into every community to better understand concerns on the ground. That way, we ensure that every individual, especially our seniors and hawkers, is well-supported at each step of their digitalisation journey, and that everyone, young or old, will have a place in Singapore’s digital future.”
In addition to the SG Digital Office @ West Coast community hub at West Coast Community Centre, four other community hubs at Heartbeat @ Bedok, Leng Kee Community Centre, MacPherson Community Centre and Our Tampines Hub have also commenced operations.
Our Seniors and Hawkers as an Immediate Priority
Digital Ambassadors will be stationed at each hub to provide one-to-one assistance on digital skills and knowledge, under IMDA’s Seniors Go Digital and Hawkers Go Digital programmes. With the dedicated support of the Digital Ambassadors, seniors and hawkers can pick up digital skills and progress at their own pace.
At these hubs, seniors can get help with their digital devices and pick up practical skills, such using common applications like WhatsApp and SingPass mobile, and making e-payments. Meanwhile, stallholders can find out how to use e-payment tools to better serve their customers’ needs. In addition, seniors and stallholders who are keen to learn new digital skills can participate in small group classes and learning journeys at the hub.
