Don’t Feel Like Taking Public Transport? Try These Next-Level Ways To Get Around The City

People are searching for alternative ways to get around cities worldwide, with many individuals still concerned about the health risks associated with public transport. According to a recent survey, public transportation usage levels have gone down by 60 percent, as people are taking fewer trips or have chosen to work at home for the time being. Meanwhile, others have opted for alternative ways to get to work, such as walking or biking. Biking or walking can be a safe and healthy way to get around, but there are other, cooler ways to get to where you’re going. If you don’t want to use public transportation but you need to go somewhere, consider these next-level ways to get around your city.

Self-balancing scooters

Self-balancing scooters, more popularly known as hoverboards, have been around for years, and most people consider them a fun way to get around. The hoverboard market has grown considerably since the device became popular in 2015, and while there are a lot of brands and models to choose from, it’s important to know that not all self-balancing scooters are created the same, especially if you’re looking for a safe device. According to Hover Patrol, choosing the right hoverboard involves knowing its weight limit and making sure that its battery adheres to safety standards to reduce the risks of getting into an accident. Always wear a helmet if you intend to hoverboard to your workplace, and remember to wear comfortable shoes to avoid slips and falls. Also, remember not to overcharge the device’s battery, as it could overheat or explode. Check the manual to know the hoverboard’s initial and normal charging hours, and never leave it plugged in overnight.

Electric unicycle

If you’re looking for a unique personal commuter solution, consider getting an electric unicycle. This odd-looking electric vehicle looks like a single wheel with footrests on either side of it, and it has a top speed of 25 mph. Moreover, it can handle rough terrain such as hiking and mountain bike trails, so you can definitely experience a smooth ride around the city using this mini EV. It’ll take more than an hour of practice to get the hang of riding this device, so find a safe place to ride, such as a park with soft grass, so you have a soft landing spot in case you fall off. While riding, it also helps to look forward towards the place you’re going so that the unicycle will head in the right direction.

Single-wheel scooter

You’re bound to turn a few heads on your way to work if you’re riding a single-wheel scooter due to its futuristic design. This electric device takes about an hour to charge and has a top speed of 20 miles per hour. To accelerate, you simply need to lean forward on the handlebars while balancing on the ride’s solitary wheel. Though it’s a little more stable than riding an electric unicycle, you may still need to practice to ride it around the city. Most models have self-balancing features, but for added stability, you can get a scooter with a second, smaller wheel positioned right behind the main wheel. You’ll still get the cool, futuristic aesthetic of a single-wheel scooter without fear of falling off the device.

Your health and safety should be a priority, so instead of taking public transportation, consider these cool options to get around the city. Do your research, and test out different models to find the ride that works best for you, and don’t forget to practice riding in a safe area before heading out.
