Modern Security Solutions For Rapidly Growing Cities

68 percent of the world’s population will be living in urban areas by 2050, according to projections by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. As a result of major social and economic transformations, the coming decades will see a growth of colossal megacities as more people continue to move to urban areas. One of the challenges that cities will keep facing as they grow bigger is inevitably security. As the population in cities increases and technology advances, security threats will become even more complex, requiring more advanced measures to be taken for protection. Luckily, technology in the security industry is advancing at a rapid rate, and there are various security technologies that you can invest in to secure your home or business against current and future threats.

Smart surveillance systems

As a home or business owner, you need to keep an eye on your property at all times. Thankfully, smart surveillance cameras have made this a lot easier, as they allow you to monitor everything that’s going on in your property in real-time even when you are hundreds of miles away. Smart cameras track everything that happens in the areas you install them in and use a Wi-Fi network to transmit live surveillance videos to your computer or smartphone for viewing while sending footage to the cloud for storage. Thanks to advances in camera technology, you can now find cameras with motion-sensing capabilities, night vision, two-way talk, and facial recognition to make them even better at securing your property. You can monitor your own smart cameras or subscribe to a 24-hour monitoring service.

Access control systems

With more people flocking the cities, it will become increasingly important for businesses to monitor who they allow into their premises and who accesses different areas of their facilities. This is where a door access control system comes in, which require everyone to use codes, cards or biometrics to access a building or room, allowing businesses to control access to various entry and exit points in their property. On top of restricting unauthorized access, access control systems can also provide a wealth of information, such as which specific person accessed a specific room, the time of arrival and exit of employees, and activity trails when incidents occur. An access control system can also be integrated with other installed security systems. For example, it can be integrated seamlessly with smart surveillance systems to provide you with synchronized footage of individuals gaining access to certain areas.

Cybersecurity systems

While advances in technology are mostly positive, they have led to one of the biggest security threats businesses and individuals face today: cybercrime. A cyber attack can come out of nowhere and lead to loss of sensitive data and massive financial losses. To prevent this, it’s important to invest in a strong cybersecurity system to fight against hackers, viruses, and other cyber threats you face. A hardware authentication system, for instance, can prevent unauthorized devices from accessing your network even when they use the right username and password.

With advances in technology and the rapid growth of cities, security threats stand to become more sophisticated as well. It is up to you to stay on the lookout for the latest security technologies to protect yourself against the most advanced security threats you face now and in the future.
