ComfortDelGro Taxi will waive the rental should any of its cabbies be placed under quarantine by the Ministry of Health, in relation to the Wuhan Coronavirus (“Wuhan virus”). The Company will also extend assistance where needed, including financial aid from its Cabby Hardship Fund. It will also work closely with the National Taxi Association and National Transport Workers’ Union (NTWU) to assist its cabbies and staff.

Mr Yang Ban Seng, Managing Director/Group CEO of ComfortDelGro said: “We will do all we can to assist any cabby affected by the virus. The inability to drive has a direct impact on their livelihood and we will assist as best we can.”

Cabbies come into constant contact with passengers and those who wish to don masks can get them from any of the ComfortDelGro fuelling stations or offices. The Company is also providing disinfectant sprays for its cabbies at its fuelling stations.

Cabbies, bus captains, frontline and backend staff have all been reminded to be vigilant and to adopt good personal hygiene practices. For example, they have been encouraged to take precautionary measures such as cleaning and disinfecting their taxis more frequently and to wear a face mask if they have respiratory symptoms such as a cough or runny nose to protect those around them. If they feel unwell, they should see a doctor immediately. In addition, they have been reminded to check the Ministry of Health (MOH)’s website or the go.gov.sg/whatsapp chat for the latest on the Wuhan coronavirus and other important Government information.

They have also been advised to defer all non-essential travel to Mainland China. Those who have returned from Mainland China should inform the Company of their travel history and will be required to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) for 14 days upon their return. This applies to all staff returning from Mainland China from today, as well as those who returned in the last 14 days. The LOA will be granted as paid leave, over and above the staff’s annual leave entitlement. In addition, they should monitor their health closely, and see a doctor promptly if they are unwell and inform their doctor of their travel history. If they have a fever or respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough, runny nose), they should wear a mask and call the clinic ahead of the visit.
