NETS To Come On Board With SimplyGo From 16 November

From 16 November 2019, commuters can start paying for public transport rides with NETS Tap contactless payment, as well as link their NETS Tap to TransitLink’s SimplyGo account. Participating banks include DBS/POSB, OCBC and UOB. With NETS coming on board, commuters will now have an additional payment mode, in addition to Mastercard® and Visa.

Since April 2019, more than 250,000 commuters have signed up for a TransitLink SimplyGo account with a registered bank card. The SimplyGo account allows commuters to view their trip history and receive notifications of their fares on the go. To register for a SimplyGo account, commuters may visit the TransitLink SimplyGo Portal (simplygo.com.sg) or download the TL SimplyGo mobile app.

“To make digital payments more accessible to all Singaporeans, NETS has been working towards simplifying cashless payment modes for smaller purchases. Contactless payment technology is becoming the norm in our busy lifestyles. With NETS Tap joining SimplyGo, our customers will have not just another choice to pay for their retail and food purchases but also a simple and fast option for their daily commute,” said Jeffrey Goh, CEO of NETS.

Today, more than 350,000 trips on the public transport network every day are paid with SimplyGo. LTA is working with EZ-Link to allow commuters to upgrade their ez-link cards to enjoy SimplyGo benefits, like topping up on-the-go.

About SimplyGo

Launched on 4 April 2019, SimplyGo enables commuters to use their contactless cards, or mobile wallets (i.e. Apple Pay, Fitbit Pay, Google PayTM, Samsung Pay and Singtel Dash) on transit.

With SimplyGo, all Mastercard, Visa and NETS Tap contactless cardholders need not pre-register their cards for public transport rides. Commuters who use SimplyGo with contactless cards will be charged the same fares as those who currently use travel cards (i.e. ez-link and NETS FlashPay cards). Charges for public transport rides will be reflected in the commuter’s credit, debit or pre-paid card bills, similar to retail transactions.

To benefit from SimplyGo, commuters who carry more than one contactless card and/or travel card are reminded to take out the card they wish to use from their wallet or bag before tapping at the fare reader, to avoid charges to multiple cards or delay in travel.

Registered users of contactless cards can opt to receive push notifications for fares after each trip is completed using the TL SimplyGo mobile app on their smartphones.
