Envision Digital International Pte Ltd (“Envision Digital”), a global net zero partner and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) technology leader with headquarters in Singapore, and ST Engineering have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly build an end-to-end net zero carbon urban infrastructure solution for the public and commercial sectors. The collaboration will see the two companies combine their strengths in digitalisation, AIoT and smart urban solutions to contribute to the Energy Reset initiative under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, from enabling greener commercial and industrial buildings to more sustainable towns and districts.

Envision Digital and ST Engineering MOU Ceremony

As part of the MOU, both companies will commit to six months of joint development to build a cloud-based, Integrated Net Zero Carbon Digital Building Suite that connects and facilitates real-time data flows across ST Engineering’s smart digital building solutions. These include connected IoT sensors for smart lighting and indoor daylight harvesting, integrated security management systems, smart car park platforms, advanced crowd detection systems and data-driven facility management systems.

Where the ongoing COVID-19 situation has resulted in workforce disruption and employee safety concerns, the solution’s remote and autonomous management capabilities will enable buildings to continue to be operated reliably, efficiently and safely without human intervention, allowing urban infrastructure owners to optimise resource and asset deployment and conduct predictive maintenance. The solution will also enable urban infrastructure owners to track their assets’ energy efficiency and carbon emissions over time, and easily orchestrate the use of power from smart renewable energy sources like rooftop solar, virtual power plants and electric vehicle (EV) charging points, to reduce reliance on electricity generated by fossil fuels.

With the aim to eventually export this solution overseas, Envision Digital and ST Engineering will not only support Singapore’s target of achieving its long-term net zero emissions goal, but will also align with Singapore’s recently announced Virtually Unlimited economic agenda to seize growth opportunities from the growing global demand for decarbonisation technology solutions.

“Our collaboration with ST Engineering aligns with our net zero technology vision and urgency to solve mankind’s sustainability challenges. We are proud to create Singapore’s first fully Integrated Net Zero Carbon Digital Building Suite, with the goal of it being the first of many in net zero carbon cities across the world,” said Michael Ding, Executive Director, Envision Group. “With ambitious targets to increase renewables through its Green Plan 2030, Singapore has been forward-thinking in its approach toward its energy transition. This, coupled with local stakeholders’ desire to continuously co-create and experiment with innovative concepts, scenarios, technologies, and business models in actual living environments, bodes well for us and underscores the city-state’s rich potential to become an international leader in exporting sustainability software solutions.”

“The demand for sustainable urban infrastructure solutions is set to grow as cities and organisations take urgent action to reduce their carbon footprint to move to a net zero carbon future. Our collaboration with Envision Digital will augment our smart digital building offerings with intelligent energy and carbon emission tracking and optimisation technologies, providing our customers with actionable insights to help them achieve their sustainability targets,” said Chew Men Leong, President/Head, Urban Solutions at ST Engineering. “Innovation is critical to achieving net zero carbon, and we are confident that this partnership will pave the way to novel solutions that will contribute to a more sustainable, resilient and brighter future.”

Envision Digital is intensifying its actions toward solving the current climate crisis. Its parent company, Envision Group, has most recently committed to becoming carbon neutral in its operations by 2022 and across its entire value chain by 2028 – all while it continues to bring together like-minded organisations to take collective action in achieving net zero. Envision Digital’s world-class AIoT operating system currently connects and manages more than 200 gigawatts of energy assets globally. Driven by machine learning, Envision Digital’s proprietary monitoring, advanced analytics, forecasting, and optimising applications provide actionable insights and reliable controls to better manage assets’ energy performance. Since 2017, Envision Digital’s founding philosophy involves creating and implementing net zero carbon technology lighthouse projects in Singapore, before bringing them global to create impact at scale.

A global technology, engineering and defence group, ST Engineering is committed to sustainability and incorporates environmental, social and governance principles in the way it manages its businesses worldwide. As an enabler of a sustainable world, its products and solutions empower customers in engineering a more sustainable tomorrow. ST Engineering’s suite of Smart City solutions helps cities reduce energy consumption, reduce traffic congestion and improve waste management while its range of Conversion Services helps extend the life of aircraft, ships and vehicles.
