Vietnam Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General (SNR-LG) Nguyen Chi Vinh co-chaired the 11th Singapore-Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD) with Permanent Secretary (Defence) Mr Chan Heng Kee at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon.

During the DPD, Mr Chan and SNR-LG Vinh reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Vietnam. They exchanged views on international and regional security issues of mutual interest, discussed matters in support of Vietnam’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus, and reviewed bilateral cooperation initiatives.

SNR-LG Vinh also called on Minister for VietDefence Dr Ng Eng Hen today at MINDEF, prior to the DPD. Besides established dialogues such as the DPD, both sides also interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses and port calls.

Relevant health checks and safety measures were taken by the visiting delegation.
