Sunseap Group Pte Ltd (Sunseap), Singapore’s leading provider of renewable energy solutions, crosses a new milestone of more than 300 MegaWatt-peak (MWp) contracted solar capacity in the Republic.

The solar power company said today that its installed capacity of nearly 168 MWp is almost half of the 350 MWp deployment target by the Singapore government for 2020. It targets to install the balance contracted capacity of about 135 MWp by end-2021.

Mr Frank Phuan, Co-Founder and CEO of Sunseap, said: “Sunseap is gratified that we are able to contribute to the greening of Singapore in our business. As we embark on the next phase of growth, we look forward to supporting more businesses and individuals both locally and in the region, to build a sustainable future.”

“Climate change undermines health and social systems and the Covid-19 pandemic is a daily reminder that we need to urgently protect these systems.”

Mr Lawrence Wu, President and Executive Director of Sunseap, said: “We are grateful to all our stakeholders who have helped us to reach this remarkable milestone in such a short period of time.

“Sunseap will remain a vital player in the renewable energy industry in Singapore and we are committed to exploring more innovative energy efficient and demand supply solutions that will help us make a difference.”

Sunseap said its contracted capacity of 301.12 MWp can potentially offset more than 161.1 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to growing over 2.7 billion tree seedlings for 10 years*.

In Singapore, Sunseap generates solar energy for its corporate, government and retail customers from solar photovoltaic systems installed on rooftops. To date, it has its solar systems atop more than 1,500 HDB blocks, commercial and industrial buildings. Some of its notable clients include tech giants Apple and Microsoft, which use 100% renewable energy supplied by Sunseap to power their operations, as well as Singapore Cruise Centre, Jurong Port, ABB, Panasonic, PSA Singapore, ST Kinetics and Keppel Energy Ventures.

Sunseap has also won six out of nine solar government tenders to install rooftop solar systems, including SolarNova 4. Under the programme, Sunseap will install more than 70 MWp of solar panels on the rooftops of housing blocks and other government sites.

The company also provides residential customers in Singapore with access to certified solar energy through the open electricity market to help reduce their carbon footprints.

Outside Singapore, Sunseap has a total and projected capacity of 1.7 GigaWatt-peak of solar energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region that are in operation, under construction and in development. These include a 168 MWp solar farm in Ninh Thuan Province, one of the largest solar projects in Vietnam, as well as a strong pipeline of projects in China, Taiwan, Japan and other parts of Southeast Asia.
